India’s leading pediatric and perinatal hospital chain, Rainbow Children’s Hospital, has expanded its presence in Andhra Pradesh with the inauguration of a new 50-bed hospital in Guntur, bringing specialised pediatric and women’s healthcare to the city. The hospital was inaugurated by Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Government of India, in the presence of Ms. Galla Madhavi, Member of the Legislative Assembly from Guntur West. The new facility will offer advanced medical care for children and women, strengthening Guntur’s access to specialised healthcare services.
The new hospital will provide a wide range of specialised services for children and women, including pediatric super-specialties, neonatal and pediatric intensive care, pediatric surgery, emergency care, high-risk obstetrics, gynecology, and fertility services. The hospital will also be supported by Rainbow’s established clinical network, specialist teams, and pediatric and neonatal transport services, enabling timely access to advanced care when required.
The Guntur hospital is an important addition to Rainbow’s growing network across Andhra Pradesh, with a presence across Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Guntur, and Nellore, creating a connected healthcare corridor with a specialised pediatric and women’s healthcare facility approximately every 200 kilometres along the route towards Chennai. This expanding network strengthens access to advanced healthcare across Tier II and Tier III cities and surrounding districts, bringing specialised clinical expertise closer to families through hospitals, outreach clinics, community health initiatives, and emergency transport services, while connecting patients to Rainbow’s wider network of doctors and tertiary care capabilities.
Commenting on the launch, Dr. Ramesh Kancharla, Chairman and Managing Director, Rainbow Children’s Hospital, said: “Guntur marks an important step in our larger vision for Andhra Pradesh, with Amaravati planned as a key hub for our multi-specialty pediatric care. Our aim is to build a connected network where families can access specialised care closer to home, while complex cases can seamlessly move through our network to centres with deeper clinical capabilities. With Guntur strengthening our presence in the region today and our planned Amaravati hub shaping the next phase of our growth, we are building an integrated pediatric healthcare ecosystem designed to serve the needs of a rapidly growing region.”
Abrarali Dalal, Group Chief Executive Officer, Rainbow Children’s Hospital, said: “The Guntur expansion strengthens our regional cluster strategy in Andhra Pradesh, allowing us to serve a larger catchment while creating stronger referral and clinical linkages across our network. We see significant potential in Tier II and Tier III markets, where demand for specialised healthcare is growing rapidly. Guntur will be integrated into our wider network of hospitals and specialty services, with our planned Amaravati hub providing further depth for complex pediatric care. This network-led approach allows us to expand our reach while maintaining clinical quality, operational efficiency and continuity of care.”
Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Government of India, said: “I have closely followed Rainbow Children’s Hospital’s journey from its roots in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to becoming a leading pediatric healthcare network across India. Having spent many years in the US, I have seen the importance placed on specialised children’s healthcare, and it is encouraging to see India making significant strides in this area. Rainbow has played an important role in shaping this change through its focus on quality and clinical outcomes. I am proud to see an institution with strong roots in this region grow to serve children and families across the country, and I wish Rainbow every success in its journey ahead.”
Galla Madhavi, Member of the Legislative Assembly from Guntur West, said: “Strengthening healthcare infrastructure is important for the development of Guntur and the well-being of its people. The opening of Rainbow Children’s Hospital is a welcome step in bringing specialised pediatric and women’s healthcare to our region. It will help families in Guntur and neighbouring districts access advanced medical care closer to home. I welcome Rainbow’s investment in Guntur and hope the hospital will make a meaningful difference to the lives of many families.”
The new hospital will also focus on strengthening community connect and preventive healthcare in Guntur and surrounding areas through outreach programmes, health awareness initiatives, and specialist consultations. Its location will enable families from neighbouring towns and districts to access specialised pediatric and women's healthcare without having to travel to distant metropolitan centres.
Rainbow Children’s Medicare Limited has a network of 26 hospitals across 11 cities, supported by 6 outpatient clinics and 2 exclusive Fertility centres, with a total capacity of 2,685 beds. Our pediatric services operating under the brand “Rainbow Children’s Hospital” include newborn and pediatric intensive care, pediatric multi-specialty services, pediatric quaternary care (including organ transplantation); whereas our women care services under “Birthright by Rainbow” offer perinatal care services which include normal and complex obstetric care, multi-disciplinary fetal care, perinatal genetic and fertility care along with gynecology services.
Rainbow Children’s Hospital is built on strong fundamentals of a multidisciplinary approach with a full-time consultant-led clinical service along with 24/7 commitment in a child-centric environment. The company follows a hub-and-spoke operating model where the hub hospital provides comprehensive outpatient, inpatient care, with a focus on tertiary and quaternary services, while the spokes provide 24/7 emergency care, large outpatient services, and comprehensive obstetrics, pediatric inpatient, and level 3 NICU services. This model is successfully operational at Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The endeavor is to replicate this approach in Chennai and across the National Capital Region. Subsequently, Rainbow intends to expand into tier-2 cities of Southern India.
Rainbow Children’s Hospital embraces a unique doctor engagement model, where doctors work exclusively on a full-time, retainer basis. The doctors work in teams and have 24/7 commitment, which is particularly important for children’s emergency, neonatal, pediatric intensive care services, and to support pediatric retrieval services. The company also operates the country’s largest pediatric DNB training programme in private healthcare, offering post graduate residential DNB and fellowship programmes (including the 130 beds at Malviya Nagar where Rainbow Hospitals provides medical services).
