Rosewalk: World Prematurity Day: 17-Nov-2017
World Prematurity Day is observed on 17th November each year to raise awareness of pre-term birth and address the concerns of pre-term babies and their families worldwide. As per the National Health Portal of India, 3.5 million babies born are pre-term every year in India. Creating awareness about caring for these babies is very important.
Rosewalk Healthcare and General Electric Healthcare held an event on Early Delivery Care on 16th November, 2017. Rosewalk is the only hospital in Delhi chosen by GE Healthcare to hold an awareness session on this day.
A team of senior doctors officiated the event with presentations by Dr. Atul Chopra (Head – Neonatology and Paediatrics) who spoke about the challenges of pre-term births and the comprehensive medical facilities available at Rosewalk, which provide superior care for pre-term babies. Ms. Ruchita Mehra (Lactation and Post Natal Maternity Consultant) spoke about initiating breastfeeding and caring for the mother, since the stress associated with maternal infant separation causes physiological and emotional anxiety.
At Rosewalk Healthcare, the neonatal intensive care unit has:
• Level III Neonatal Intensive Care with state-of-the-art adjustable Giraffe and Lullaby Warmers, a centralized gas manifold for all medical gases, phototherapy Biliblankets, specialized ventilators and anesthesia with inbuilt Kepno technology as well as C-PAP by T-Piece Resuscitator to name a few of the many advanced technology medical equipments
• A calm, clean and warm environment for pre-term babies to grow healthy and strong
• An expert medical team consisting of one-to-one staff to patient ratio
• 24 hour doctor cover, 7 days a week
• Fully equipped Modular Operation Theatre with laminar-flow, adjacent to the NICU for paediatric surgery, if required.
We are a hospital with a strong philosophy of care. We acknowledge that when a baby is in the NICU, the mother and the family of the baby also need care and support. Many premature babies are born through a cesarean section, and the mother is often in recovery. The maternal-infant separation can also be a cause of stress. WE PROVIDE HOLISTIC CARE FOR THE FAMILY OF OUR NICU BABIES. Our Lactation Counselor assists the mother to establish successful breastfeeding and encourages skin-to-skin care. Our resident psychologist is available to provide counselling and emotional support to the family. Our physiotherapist guides the mother so that she can easily move to her baby’s side after her operation. Our Clinical Nutritionist backs this up by providing the mother with the right diet to help her recover and to help her breastfeed. All this ensures that the family stays strong and brave, and are able to spend as much time with their baby as possible. As far as we know, this kind of holistic support is unique to Rosewalk amongst hospitals in Delhi/NCR.
At Rosewalk, it is our mission to create happiness while delivering excellent medical care. In our CEO, Rasik Chopra’s words “Good health is not merely the absence of disease. It is a state of happiness in which the body and the mind are in harmony. For me Rosewalk was born in the pursuit of this happiness.”
