Dr. Rashmi Adiga is a top Pediatric Neurologist and Pediatrician in Bannerghatta, Bangalore. She is currently working as a Consultant Pediatric Neurologist and Pediatrician and Lead Consultant for Child Development Services at Rainbow Children’s Hospital. She has vast clinical experience in managing children with seizures, epilepsy/complex epilepsy, acute Pediatric Neurology, children with neuromuscular disorders, cerebral palsy, children with movement disorders, children with developmental delay and complex physical disabilities, developmental coordination disabilities, learning disabilities, children with autistic spectrum disorder, and specific learning difficulties. She complements her skills in managing general Pediatric problems with specialist skills in Complex Pediatric Neurological Problems. She has spent a few years training and working in the U.K. After qualifying from Bangalore Medical College, she qualified with a D.C.H (Diploma in Child Health) at the Institute of Child Health, Madras, and obtained a CCT (certificate of completion of training) in Pediatrics (special interest Pediatric Neurology) following training in the Eastern deanery, United Kingdom. After this, she worked in the U.K as a consultant in community Pediatrics (neurodevelopmental Pediatrics) for 6 months.
Following this, she was a fellow in Pediatric neurology at Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge and completed modules in the BPNA distance learning course in Pediatric neurology. Following this, she worked as a consultant in Pediatrics, lead for Pediatric neurology and epilepsy services at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn, and Neurodevelopmental Pediatrics at Norfolk Community Health and Care before relocating to Bengaluru. During this time, she was an honorary visiting specialist in Pediatric neurology at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. Through the course of her training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Neurology and subsequent work as a consultant, she has worked hard to develop her clinical and nonclinical skills.
She enjoys working with children and their families and has developed ways to work with them effectively to make the best possible clinical decision for the child. During her time as a consultant in the U.K, she conducted Pediatric epilepsy clinics, Pediatric neurology clinics, Pediatric neurodevelopmental clinics, and multidisciplinary clinics for children with cerebral palsy. She also conducted clinics at Churchill Park School, a special school for children with neuro-disabilities. After relocating to Bangalore, she has developed substantial experience in tropical Pediatric neurological problems including acute Pediatric neurology. During her time in the U.K, she has led many audit projects including the national Epilepsy 12 audit to improve the quality of clinical care for children with epilepsy. She is passionate about teaching and is currently faculty for British Pediatric Neurology Association Pediatric Epilepsy Training (PET1) courses and Pediatric EEG basics for Pediatricians (PEBP) workshops.
She was the “University of Cambridge Senior Clinical tutor” and hence lead the placement of Cambridge Medical students in Pediatrics. She was an educational supervisor for postgraduate trainees in pediatrics. She was an active member of the Eastern Pediatric Epilepsy Network. She was the principal investigator for the ICISS (International Collaborative Infantile Spasms Study) trial at Kings Lynn and the paper following this trial “Safety and efficacy of hormonal treatment versus the hormonal treatment and vigabatrin for infantile spasms” has now been published in the Lancet.
She is very keen on evidence-based clinical care and has written many local clinical guidelines and was also a Delphi Panellist for the RCPCH Stroke in Childhood guideline. She is currently involved in the training program for DNB residents, PICU, and NICU fellows at Rainbow Children’s Hospital. After relocating to Bengaluru, she was a member of the organizing team and scientific committee which organized the successful 10th AOCN (Association of Child Neurology) annual conference in Bengaluru in February/March 2020. She has been faculty at many national and international conferences. She has also been elected to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH) and has been appointed as MRCPCH examiner. She is currently a member of Pediatric Neurology (subchapter of IAP), the International Child Neurology Association (ICNA), the Association of Child Neurology (AOCN), the British Pediatric Neurology Association (BPNA), and the European Pediatric Neurological Society (EPNS).
