Dr. Sarath Gopalan is a Senior Consultant and Lead Consultant in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Madhukar Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Malviya Nagar, New Delhi. With over 30 years of medical experience, he specialises in diagnosing and managing digestive, liver, nutritional, and gastrointestinal disorders in children.
He completed his MBBS and MD in Pediatrics before pursuing a fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Clinical Nutrition at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, United Kingdom. Throughout his career, he has been associated with leading healthcare institutions, including Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Max Hospital, PSRI Hospital, and Paras Hospitals, Gurugram.
Dr. Sarath Gopalan’s clinical interests include pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology, enteral and parenteral nutrition, functional gastrointestinal disorders, celiac disease, and food allergies. He also has an interest in gut microbiome modification, including the use of probiotics and prebiotics, to support children's digestive health and nutritional well-being.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Sarath Gopalan contributes to the advancement of nutrition and pediatric healthcare. He has served as the National President of the Nutrition Society of India since April 2024 and is a member of the APPSPGHAN Nutrition Scientific Subcommittee.
