Dr VVSS Chandrasekharam is a gold-medalist in Pediatric Surgery from India’s most prestigious institute, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. He had an illustrious academic career, both during medical college and postgraduate training, completing his training with gold medals. He presented over 15 clinical & research papers in various international & national conferences. He published 20 scientific papers in international journals. These academic credentials are the highest by any pediatric surgeon in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Dr Chandrasekharam has recently described a new technique of operation for pyeloplasty in children that has been internationally accepted & appreciated.
Dr Chandrasekharam is a versatile pediatric surgeon with specific interest in Pediatric Urology, Bronchoscopy & Endosurgery. He has performed over 250 bronchoscopies in Hyderabad, including newborn babies, with excellent results. He is also an expert in Pediatric Urology, with special interest in Hydronephrosis, Vesicoureteric reflux, Posterior Urethral Valves, Hypospadias, Undescended testis and Intersex disorders. He is an Executive member of Indian Society for Pediatric Urology.
He has performed the largest number of primary cystoscopic fulgurations of posterior urethral valves in newborn babies (about 50 in number) in our state. He is also an expert in the management of children with urinary and fecal incontinence. Dr Chandrasekharam also has expertise in Pediatric Laparoscopic surgery & is the only surgeon in the state of Andhra Pradesh performing Thoracoscopic surgery in children. Dr Chandrasekharam has delivered guest lectures for various societies, including a lecture on Pediatric Urology for Hyderabad Urology Society & a lecture on Bronchoscopy for Otolaryngologists association of Hyderabad. He is also an invited Chairperson for some prestigious international conferences in India.
