CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE

Rainbow Children’s Healthcare Society, is a non-profit organization, sponsored Rainbow College of Nursing in 2006 to produce nurses of world-class standards by providing quality education, training and state-of-the-art-infrastructure.

Students at Rainbow College of Nursing learn the theory and practice of nursing, improve their communication skills and cultivate compassion and empathy with the sick. The students get ample opportunities to master the special skills needed to attend to patients in intensive and critical care wards. Highly qualified academicians and professional experts monitor all nursing academic activities and skills management. Rainbow Children's Healthcare Society has been formed to:

• Provide medical relief and treatment to the poor and needy, by establishing tertiary care hospitals, diagnostic centers and clinical research laboratories on a non-profit basis.
• Impart training to doctors, nurses, para-medical staff and others engaged in the healthcare industry so that they serve the poor on a charitable basis.

Rainbow Children’s Hospital was set up in 1999 by a few like minded professionals in the field of the child health, who had gained vast experience in some of the best centers in the world. It offers high-level care in Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine.

Rainbow Hospitals adds more and sophisticated medical and surgical services, professionally trained nursing personnel are as needed. Hence the College of Nursing was founded in 2006. It started off with a four year B.Sc. Nursing Degree course to keep pace with the rapid advancement in medical and nursing sciences.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE :

The philosophy of the College of Nursing is consistent with that of Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences.

The entire Rainbow Hospitals with all its various specialities and a bed strength of 200 is made available to students for clinical experience. It is also affiliated to the 600 bed MediCiti Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad.

Well developed urban & rural community health centers with various developmental activities planned and executed scientifically are at the disposal of students for practical community health nursing experience.

A well-stocked library and audiovisual aids are available to help students in their learning process.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

1. Age limit for admission – Candidate should have completed 17 years and should not be more than 25 years as on 31st December of the year of admission.

2. Upper age limit shall be relaxed by 5 years in the case of SC and ST candidates.

4. Educational qualifications

• Should have passed the Intermediate examination (10+2) with Biology, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects or the Intermediate Vocational (Nursing) examination conducted by the Board of Intermediate Examination, Andhra Pradesh or any examination recognized as equivalent.
• Should have secured not less than 50% of marks in the optionals of the Intermediate Examinations. SC/ST candidates should have secured not less than 50% of marks.

5. Duration of Course – The duration of B.Sc. (N) Degree programme is four academic years.

6. Commencement – The course shall ordinarily commence in August of the academic year.

7. Medium of Instruction & Examination – English shall be the medium of instruction and examination.

8. Working days – The academic year shall have not less than 220 working days excluding vacation, university examination days and public holidays.

Admission Procedure

Application forms for B.Sc. (N) course are available with the

Administrative Officer,
Rainbow College of Nursing,
1st Floor, BPR Towers, Attapur,
Ranga Reddy Dist., Andhra Pradesh, India.

The forms will be supplied on payment of Rs. 350/- (non refundable) B.Sc. (N) by bank demand draft drawn in favour of Rainbow College of Nursing, and payable in Hyderabad. Application forms can also be obtained personally at the Rainbow College of Nursing admission counter. Duly filled in application forms should reach the college before the specified time and date.

Religious Activities: Students are encouraged to avail themselves of the opportunities to pray realizing that it is from the Divine Physician that they draw the healing touch to be provided to patients.

Extra-Curricular Activities: We believe that education aids the total development of the person. A number of opportunities are provided to the students to develop their skills and talents, take part in local, State and national conferences and scientific exhibitions which promote their leadership potential.
Opportunities to develop their talents in music, dance, indoor and outdoor games and sports also are provided.

Health Services: On admission every student will undergo a medical examination. An annual check-up will be done for all the students. Medical care will be given at Rainbow Hospitals as per the student health scheme. In case of any illness as like epilepsy, heart disease and mental health deviations detected after admission, the student may be asked to discontinue the course.

Hostel: Admission is made to the hostel only for one academic year. For re-admission, every student has to submit a fresh application. All hostel students shall join the mess.

Telugu Class: Provision is made for non-telegu speaking students to learn Telugu. This syllabus requirement is meant to facilitate students communication with patients during clinical experience.

Vacation: Students are normally entitled to a 30 day vacation for a year and is arranged according to the convenience of the hospital and the college.
